Overview

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest

  • Travel by bus for 8 hours until the cloud forest
  • Entrance to the Manu National Park
  • Walk in the cloud forest to see the bird Andean cock of the rock
  • Overnight in San Pedro Lodge (1600 m)

Day 02: Cloud Forest – Cocha Machuwasi – Lodge

  • Travel by bus to the port of Atalaya 650m (02 hours)
  • Boat trip on the  Alto Madre de Dios river (02 hours)
  • Tour lake Cocha Machuwasi in a raft
  • Walking near the Lodge
  • Night Walk
  • Overnight in Lodge Pantiacolla

Day 03: Parrot clay lick – Excursion to Petroleum stream

  • Excursion by boat to the Parrot clay lick
  • Walk on the trails of Pantiacolla mountain range
  • Night walk to Ranacocha to appreciate the different species of frogs.
  • Overnight in Lodge Pantiacolla

Day 04: Hot Springs – Cloud Forest

  • Boat trip to visit the hot springs of Shintuya.
  • Return by boat to Atalaya port
  • Return by bus to our lodge in San Pedro
  • Visit the Orchid garden in the way back.
  • Overnight in San Pedro Lodge

Day 05: Cloud Forest – Cusco

  •  Travel back to Cusco. (08 hours)

Detailed

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest

Our service starts from Cusco, with 8 hours bus trip crossing beautiful andean villages. Our first stop is the colonial village of Paucartambo where we  have a delicious breakfast. Then we continue up to the point of beginning of the Manu National Park at 4.000 meters of elevation and then descend to the cloud forest. In the afternoon we walk to see flora and fauna and especially the Cock of the rock a very colorful bird that daily performs a  ritual mating dance. Overnight in San Pedro Lodge (aprox.1600 m).

Day 02: Cloud Forest – Cocha Machuwasi – Lodge

At dawn we continue our journey by bus to the tropical lowland forest (02 hours) until the small village and port of Atalaya at 650 meters in height to continue  our journey in a motor boat for 2 hours through the Alto Madre de Diosriver until our Pantiacolla Lodge. During the trip we stop for a visit in a traditional raft the lagoon Cocha Machuwasithat hosts different types of birds such as the prehistoric Hoatzin bird. Around our lodge we have  some walks for watching the forest wildlife, and in the evening we have a night walk to see the  insects, frogs and perhaps the elusive nocturnal monkey. Overnight in Lodge Pantiacolla

Day 03: Parrot clay lick – Excursion to Petroleum stream

Very early we move in our boat  to the parrot clay lick, to see a  spectacle of parakeets, parrots, and the rare blue headed macaw eating clay . Then we walk through the trails of the Cordillera Pantiacolla which is the last part of the Andes chain and the beginning of the rainforest with an incredible diversity of  flora and fauna. By the night we visit Ranacocha a small pond with many types frogs. Overnight in Lodge Pantiacolla

Day 04: Hot Springs – Cloud Forest

After a last morning walk in Pantiacolla Lodge, we head by boat to the Hot Springs of  Shintuya for a relaxing bath, later we continue our the journey back to Atalaya, and from here we board our bus back to our Lodge in San Pedro in the Cloud Forest, on the way back we visit a local orchids garden . Overnight in San Pedro Lodge

Day 05: Cloud Forest – Cusco

Very early and after a comforting breakfast, we begin our journey back to Cusco (06 hours)
