The Sun Festival – 5D/4N


The Inti Raymi was the most important religious ceremony dedicated to the sun god of the Inca Empire. Originally performed at the winter solstice in Waqaypata (main square of Cusco) and was led by the unique King. Hundreds of visitors came from the 4 regions to give tribute to Cusco during these festivities.

Today’s celebration is held on 24 June each year. In memory of this important date, hundreds of visitors from around the world arrive in the city to be part of this ceremony. During these time the city looks very colorful because the party is filled with parades of music and native dances of the region. Come and enjoy this unforgettable experience.

Day 01: Arrival in Cusco – Ciyt Cour

Day 04: Inti Rymi the Sun Festival

Day 05: Departure

Day 01: Cusco- City Tour 13:30 – 18:3 (B)

Upon arrival in Cusco we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel. We recommended that you drink a coca leaf infusion and rest for the first hours to better acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon we will pick you up for the hotel at 13:30 to visit the Cusco Cathedral and its treasures of Colonial art, including fine silverworks, wood carvings and paintings belonging to Escuela Cuzqueña. We will then continue to Koricancha, the Sun Temple, also we will visit the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, with its huge stone blocks joined perfectly. Other Incan shrines that we will visit will include: Tambomachay, Qenqo and Puca Pucara.  Overnight in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco

Day 02: Sacred Valley of the Incas (8:30 – 18:30) (B)(L)

Pick up from the hotel at 08:30AM to be transported in a private vehicle towards the archaeological site of Pisac, a great place for its outstanding agricultural terraces and palaces erected neatly over the mountain. Then we will descend towards its famous handicraft market full of a variety of colorful products that will delight our senses. Next we will drive to the town of Urubamba, where a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. Then we will continue our trip by bus to the fortress of Ollantaytambo to see its magnificent rooms and temples built with enormous blocks of granite. When we return to Cusco, we will visit the picturesque village of Chinchero to appreciate the remains of the Incan king, Tupac Yupanqui’s palace and its beautiful colonial church. In addition, we will have the opportunity to visit textile workshops showcasing the mastery of the Andean weavers. Overnight in Cusco

Day 03:  Full day Tour to Machu Picchu (B)

Very early transfer from your hotel  to the train station, where we will board the train service that will take us to the Aguas Calientes, a town that is located at the foot of Machu Picchu mountain (2000m/6561ft). During the train journey you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains and valleys that surround the train with spectacular views of the Urubamba valley. Once in Aguas Calientes, we will take the bus of ascent (30min) to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and then start the guided tour (2 1/2 hrs) through the main temples, plazas and religious sites of this enigmatic city. At the end you will have free time to explore the site on your own.  At a scheduled time (to be announced), we will descend back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and finally we will return to Cusco by train and by bus. Day 04: Inti Raymi the Sun Festival (8:00 – 16:00) (B)(BL)

Together with our professional guide we will closely follow this festival, begins with a ceremony at the Sun Temple of Koricancha, where the Inca and the Coya were transported on a stretcher to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, accompanied by his most senior officers and generals of the army. They were followed by music and dances from different regions of Cusco, in the way it has a stop at the parade happens where the meeting of the two worlds (the sovereign Inca and the mayor of the city of Cusco), after a few hours arriving in the Sacsayhuaman where thousands of especatdores awaited their arrival, start the main ceremony of the offering to the Sun God and culminates with the presentation of music and dance. return by the end of our private transport to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco
