Ica Dunes

The Ica city is the capital of the department of the same name, and close to the city is the most important attraction “The Oasis of Huacachina” at only 10 minutes. The resort of Huacachina presents a splendid landscape of palm trees and a green turquoise lagoon, surrounded by huarangos, palm trees and imposing sand dunes, where you can practice adventure sports like Sandboarding or ride a dune buggie. Also you can visit in Ica its famous wineries of pisco and wine as Ocucaje Tacama and Vista Alegre.

  • Location: Ica is located in the southern Peruvian coast at 300 km from Lima city, and Huacachina oasis is located at 5km (10 min) from Ica city
  • Altitude: The Huacachina Oasis elevation is 410 meters.
  • Climate: Due to its location in the southern Peruvian desert, has sunny and dry climate throughout the year.
  • Access: From Lima to Ica (300 km) and the bus ride takes 4 hours along the Panamericana Sur Highway.

Huacachina is located at 5 km from the city of Ica, and is one of the few natural oasis in the country. The lagoon is surrounded by sand dunes, palm and guarangos trees that harmonize with the place, and in the past the local people used to come here seeking relaxation and healing in its waters that were attributed great healing properties. 

Nowadays the Oasis is a peaceful place to rest and enjoy the scenery, and in its surroundings the visitor can enjoy some adventure activities such as sandboarding an the ride in a dune buggie.

The Cachiche town is located at 4km to the south of Ica, and is known for its witches that cured in the past all devils and damages. This place is surrounded by date palms trees and old guarangos trees that gives a gothic atmosphere and something sinister. Today is possible to see a statue of a witch on a guarango tree trunk.

At 3 km northwest of the city of Ica (10 minutes). The winery is dedicated for making wine and pisco. Although today is a modern company, this winery still preserve ancient  colonial traces in the process to prepare the wine. It is located at 7 Km from Ica in the district La Tinguiña, It produces wines and piscos of international fame with sophisticated machinery. Preserves the old house and stables which were owned by the Jesuits and later passed to Olaechea family.Visiting Hours: Monday to Sunday 9:00 am to 17: 00 pm

Ocucaje Winery

The Ocucaje winery is located in the Main Avenue at 34 km from Ica city (45 minutes) Here were planted the first grape vines in the seventeenth century by the Jesuits congregation. After the expulsion of Jesuits from Peru, the property passed into the hands of Don Manuel Antonio de Arredondo and Pelegrin, nicknamed the regent. Its piscos and wines are made from more than 110 years ago, and are sold bottled and guaranteed by a responsible brand. Visiting Hours: Monday to Friday 9: 00-12: 00 pm and 14: 00-17: 00 pm; Saturday 9: 00-12: 00 pm

Artisanal Wineries

Along the Ica Valley there are more than 85 artisanal wineries. Among the most representative wineries are: Lazo,Catador, Sotelo, Alvarez Mendoza and Acuache. In these wineries produce pisco in the traditional way using stills like in the colonial time.
